Project Description:
The goal of this project is to commemorate and celebrate the history of the black neighborhoods that make up the Fayetteville Street Corridor. Signs will be placed along the corridor to capture written and pictorial history of past and present local heroes and historical events that shaped these communities, and in totality, the city of Durham.
Two landmark monuments will be installed to mark the entrance and exit to the Historic Fayetteville Street Corridor.
Seven neighborhood signs will also be installed to memorialize Stokesdale, Grant Street, Pearsontown, St. Theresa / Southside, The Bottom, Hillside Park, and NC Central University.
